Every June, Pride Month honors 2SLGBTQIA+ voices. But within our vibrant community, there are thousands of rare disease warriors whose stories often go unseen. Rare & Radiant centers those voices, offering space, visibility, joy, and justice for those navigating rare conditions while also facing societal bias, medical gaslighting, and systemic disparities.
This campaign is about advocacy, artistry, and action. From storytelling to policy, art to webinars, we invite every patient, caregiver, ally, clinician, and researcher to join the movement and celebrate how rare identity intersects with powerful lived experience.
Social Media Takeover
June 1 – 30, 2026
Join our month-long Rare & Radiant social media takeover by participating in the #RareRadiantSelfie challenge, a bold, creative way to spotlight rare disease during Pride Month.
Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, researcher, provider, industry member, ally, friend, etc., this challenge invites everyone to show solidarity by rocking zebra stripes and sharing your story.
Post a photo or video in your stripes and tell the world why rare disease matters to you.
LGBTQ+ rare warriors: add a Pride lens to celebrate the intersection of your identities.
Use #RareRadiantSelfie and tag 3 friends to keep the movement going.
Throughout June, we’ll be highlighting powerful 2SLGBTQIA+ rare advocates across social platforms. Come as you are, and wear your stripes with pride.
Pride Briefing

SOS is hosting its first-ever Rare & Radiant Pride Briefing, an open forum centering LGBTQ+ voices in the rare disease community. This relaxed, drop-in style virtual event is a collaborative movement-building moment where lived experiences, professional insights, and policy priorities intersect.
Expect powerful storytelling, honest dialogue, and collective action.
Hear from LGBTQ+ rare disease stakeholders sharing what equity really means at the queer/rare intersection.
Together, we’ll shape a public-facing list of 2SLGBTQIA+ Rare Policy & Access Priorities for the year ahead. Whether you pop in for one speaker or stay the whole time, this is your space to learn, connect, and co-create a more inclusive rare disease future.

The Rare Rainbow Creative Showcase is a virtual celebration spotlighting 2SLGBTQIA+ voices in the rare disease community through creative expression. From bold visual art and poetry to music and performance, this vibrant live event showcases the intersection of identity, advocacy, and artistry.
Join us to witness powerful stories come alive through art, and vote live for our Rare Rainbow Creative of the Year! Calling all queer rare disease creatives, submissions are open to present and share your truth on our virtual stage.
